A new pub, offering chicken wings, sandwiches and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Mount Vernon Square, called Present Company Public House, is located at 438 Massachusetts Ave. NW.
The pub, which resides in an 1885 firehouse, offers 12 brews on tap and 46 bottled beers. The food menu includes hot chicken wings, crispy Brussels sprouts and steamed bao buns for starters, and entrees, such as roasted Atlantic salmon, vegan curry bowl and Baltimore-based Roseda Farm steak frites with pimento potato tots.
The business is popular with locals thus far, with a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.
Bree K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Aug. 11, wrote, "My friends had the spicy chicken sandwich — definitely has a kick — veggie burger and vegetarian chili. All delicious. The bao buns, which I assume are an ode to being close to Chinatown, were light and fluffy. "
Yelper Ben S. added, “The wings were fantastic and probably my favorite dish of the night. We got seven in our order, which came with awesome dill ranch dipping sauce and shaved celery."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Present Company Public House is open from 4 p.m.–2 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 4 p.m.–3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Tuesday.)
