A new bar has made its debut in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to the Financial District, called Bar Wayo, is located at 89 South St., Pier 17.
This new edition to South Street Seaport's recently renovated Pier 17 comes from Momofuku, the restaurant group behind Momofuku Noodle Bar, the Milk Bar dessert chain and more. Bar Wayo offers more than a dozen cocktails, from updated classics to seasonal creations. Check out the Spicy Margarita with hot pepper and yuzu and the New Fashion, made with coconut rum, banana liqueur and matcha. The bar also serves wine, sake and local craft beer on draft.
Bar Wayo's concise food menu features gastropub fare like dry-spiced wings, beef tartare, a wagyu burger and more. The kitchen, which stays open until 11 p.m., also serves up dry-aged, bone-in New York strip steaks.
Bar Wayo has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 23 reviews on Yelp.
