A new Indian and Asian fusion spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Swadist Restaurant, the new addition is located at 715 Newark Ave. in Journal Square.
Swadist Restaurant serves up an extensive menu of authentic Indian favorites, as well as dishes drawing on flavors from Chinese and Thai cuisine.
On the Indian menu, you will find classics like samosas, mulligatawny soup, tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala and more. Over on the Chinese and Thai menu, expect curries, dumplings, hot and sour soup and house-style fried rice. Swadist, which means "delicious" in Sanskrit, also offers plenty of veggie-friendly dishes, such as dal, paneer, chili tofu and vegetable curry.
With a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition is on its way to developing a local fan base.
Jan S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 14, wrote, "This is the best Indian/Chinese/Thai anywhere. If you are a lover of Indian food, then this should be your new go-to place for sure."
Yelper Samarth B. added, “All dishes were delicious, and we enjoyed the service. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.”
