A new Georgian spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called Oda House, the new arrival is located at 406 E. 73rd St. on the Upper East Side.
Oda House is the creation of Executive Chef Maia Acquaviva, a former plastic surgeon who discovered her passion for cooking after moving to New York City from the Republic of Georgia. In 2013, she opened the original Oda House in Alphabet City, and this second location offers the same menu of authentic Georgian specialties, as well as an extensive list of Georgian wines. Start with a traditional appetizer like chicken or beef soup, blinis with caviar or an assortment of badrijnis, which are fried eggplant rolls stuffed with different savory fillings. For entrees, Oda House offers its baked salmon and mushroom special; chicken, pork, lamb or fish kebabs; roasted Cornish hen with blackberry sauce and Georgian bread; and more. (See the full menu here.)
The fresh addition has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of 23 reviews on Yelp.
D M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 2, wrote, "My friend and I had a wonderful birthday dinner here last Saturday night. Service and food were both excellent. After the meal, they poured us glasses of sweet Georgian wine on the house and even comped the cake we ordered for dessert because we were celebrating a birthday."
Yelper Allan P. added, “Food is delicious, service is incredibly nice and wine was amazing. This restaurant would be a dream for gourmet people."
Head on over to check it out: Oda House is open from 4–11 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, noon–11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
