It can be tough to balance civic responsibility with the demands of a busy life, so we've summed up what’s scheduled for discussion and voting at the next Seattle City Council meeting, on Aug. 5. Read on to find out what's on the agenda and stay informed about your local government.

One major item on the agenda is a council bill that would acquire 7900 10th Ave. South for open space, park, and recreation purposes.

The City Council is also set to take up a council bill that would accept the gift of three art pieces and art tiles entitled “Explorer Voyage” from the Friends of Christie Park to be installed in Christie Park.

Other agenda items include:

  • A resolution to express concern with the Northwest testing and training proposal of the United States Department of the Navy for Puget Sound, coastal waters from northern California through Washington State and for Alaska.
  • A council bill to vacate a portion of 41st Ave. Northeast and a portion of  46th St. Northeast on the petition of Seattle Children’s Hospital.
