Here are 5 adorable pups to adopt in San DiegoPhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just taking a peek at some cuddly canines up for adoption? There are dozens of darling puppies up for adoption at animal shelters in and around San Diego.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of puppies currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Camila, Labrador retriever and greyhound mix

Camila is a female Labrador retriever and greyhound puppy currently residing at Animal Advocates of the U.S.

Camila plays well with others — she loves kids, cats and dogs. She's mastered her house-training etiquette and has been vaccinated. Camila is a special needs pet, so please inquire about her specific care requirements.

From Camila's current caretaker:

With her elegant looks, she seems to have Greyhound in her. Her foster or forever home must have another dog; she needs the company to ease her fears. She has a beautiful shiny coat and when in the sun looks like chocolate; very soft hair; minimum shedding. She is crate-trained, as well. She needs to be in an all-female environment. She will be a great companion and protection for someone who lives solo, or has female children, or has a female partner.

Trevor, Labrador retriever and hound mix

Trevor is a male Labrador retriever and hound puppy staying at Baja Animal Sanctuary.

Trevor loves other dogs. He has been vaccinated.

Trevor's current caretakers say:

He’s friendly and outgoing. Trevor does well with people and is good with other dogs. He was rescued from a pound.

Maria, shepherd and terrier mix

Maria is a winsome female shepherd and terrier puppy staying at Animal Rescuers Without Borders Inc.

Maria gets along well with cats, dogs and children. Her vaccinations are up to date.

Notes from her caretakers:

She was part of a family rescued by one of our volunteers who was visiting Guadalajara. Like all strays, everything will be new to Maria, like walking on the leash, car rides, etc. She will likely grow to the 50-70 pound range when full grown.

Apply to adopt Maria today at Petfinder.

Kim, Labrador retriever mix

Kim is a sweet female Labrador retriever puppy being kept at Baja Animal Sanctuary.

Kim loves other dogs and is vaccinated.

Here's what Kim's friends at Baja Animal Sanctuary think of her:

She’s friendly, outgoing and does well with children. Kim was found as a stray in Tijuana by a BAS volunteer.

Jimmy, American Staffordshire terrier mix

Jimmy is a male American Staffordshire terrier puppy being cared for at It's The Pits.

Jimmy loves other dogs but is only partially vaccinated.

From Jimmy's current caretaker:

This little dude may have not had the world's best start in life, but you'd never know it once you meet his spunky, happy, outgoing little self. He would do best in a home that is active (once he's fully vaccinated). Like any puppy, Jimmy will need proper training, structure and boundaries as he grows up. He's  not yet house-broken, but is almost fully crate-trained. Potential adopters must be in a home with a securely fenced and private backyard, as Jimmy has not had all of his shots — sorry, no condos or apartments.
