Long Beach gets a new library: Billie Jean King Main LibraryPhoto: Rylee N./Yelp

A new library has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Billie Jean King Main Library, the new addition is located at 200 W. Broadway in Long Beach.

The new main library branch is named in honor of tennis player Billie Jean King, a native of Long Beach. The new library, housed in a state-of-the-art building that takes up nearly 100,000 square-feet, will have space for 300,000 books, according to Long Beach Post News.

With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Billie Jean King Main Library seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Rylee N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 24, wrote, "This library is gorgeous and has so many resources to offer people of all ages."

And Elizabeth M. wrote, "...There is a place for everyone. From the interactive family learning center, to the teen space, study rooms, large computer area, lots of seating, green room, full recording studio and the studio makers space with 3D printing, sewing machine, wordpress and so much more."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Billie Jean King Main Library is open from noon–8 p.m. on Tuesday, noon–6 p.m. on Wednesday, noon–7 p.m. on Thursday and noon–5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
