If you've got breakfast and brunch on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The newcomer to Park Villas, called New Day Cafe, is located at 5001 S. Parker Road.
On the menu, expect to find Southwest and American fare, including the crepes combo with two eggs any style, a choice of bacon or sausage and either strawberry, blueberry or banana, and the chilaquiles with tortilla chips tossed in enchilada sauce and melted mixed cheese over refried beans and topped with two eggs any style. For lunch, consider the Ortega beef melt with marinated beef, Ortega green chiles, mushroom, melted pepper jack cheese on grilled sourdough.
With a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, the new cafe has gotten a good response.
Glenn K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 7, wrote, "Here is my fair take. The waitresses are sweet and attentive. Kids meals at $4.99 and adult food is almost entirely under $10. This qualifies as a value diner. We had eggs and ham and a Rueben. They were both delicious."
And Dave M. wrote, "[The] enchiladas we're good but not great — sufficient portions. Omelet and potatoes were generous and delicious. Coffee was dark and rich, not burned or bitter."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: New Day Cafe is open from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. daily.
