There's a brand-new steakhouse in town. The newcomer to Chelsea's Meatpacking District restaurant scene is called Catch Steak and is located at 88 Ninth Ave.
Catch Steak is the latest venture from Catch Hospitality Group, whose flagship seafood restaurant opened further down on Ninth Avenue in 2011. The new, 15,000-square-foot restaurant aims to combine "the authority of a classic steakhouse with the lighter, brighter style and energetic vibe of a Catch Hospitality Group property," according to its website.
Guests at Catch Steak can choose from nearly 20 cuts of steak, including five cuts of tableside-cooked Japanese wagyu. The menu also includes other classic steakhouse selections, like oysters, shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad and sides of charred broccoli and duck fat fries. There are seafood options and veggie-friendly options, too, like a plant-based chicken parm.
To drink, there is beer, wine and 14 signature cocktails.
Note: Catch Steak has a dress code, and certain casual clothing items are not permitted. See the website for more details.
Catch Steak has already attracted fans thus far, with a four-star rating out of 20 reviews on Yelp.
Sam E., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 30, wrote, "This was one of the most memorable evenings we have had in a long time."
Yelper Pierre C. noted, "Catch Steak was the perfect dining experience!"
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Catch Steak is open from 5:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m. on Sunday-Wednesday and 5:30 p.m.–1 a.m. on Thursday-Saturday.
