A new stand has opened up in Exchange Place's District Kitchen food hall at 210 Hudson St. The fresh addition, called Ani Ramen, is the latest outpost of the growing New Jersey-based Japanese chain.
The original Ani Ramen House opened in Montclair in 2015, and the restaurant has since expanded around the region, adding sit-down spots in Summit and on Newark Avenue in Jersey City. The food hall version of Ani Ramen serves an abbreviated menu of the restaurant's offerings, focusing on bowls of ramen soup and steamed bao buns. The ramen comes in four varieties, including shoyu, spicy miso, vegan and mazemen, which is served without broth. The stand also offers four types of bao, as well as a selection of sides and soft drinks.
With a 3.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp, the new spot is finding its way, but it's still early days.
Maddy M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 28, wrote, "The tofu buns are good, and they made it fresh. Ramen noodles [are] fine. Good food, if you are expecting a light meal."
Meanwhile, Jordan C. added, "My husband and I love Ani Ramen. We often get the Shoyu ramen and a bao bun. However, every single employee at this location is so rude and unfriendly. They have poor customer service."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Ani Ramen is open from 11:30 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
