New barber shop Barber Craft now open in Cortez HillPhoto: Barber Craft/Yelp

A new barber shop has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 1633 Sixth Ave. in Cortez Hill, the newcomer is called Barber Craft.

Owner Tony Costa has more than 15 years of barbering experience and began his career working in shops in the New York and New Jersey areas. After moving to San Diego in 2016, Costa provided his services at different locations around town before opening his own shop, Barber Craft, earlier this month. Barber Craft offers a full array of men's hair and grooming services, including classic cuts, beard trims and neck lineups.

The fresh addition has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.

Abhishek P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new barbershop on Oct. 1, wrote, "It's a really nice shop, a great space, an ideal location and the man is cool and as courteous as it gets."

Yelper Richard R. noted, "I've been following Tony around from shop to shop for several years now and have stuck by him for good reason. The quality, care, consistency and craftsmanship of his work is truly incredible."

Intrigued? Barber Craft is currently open from 10 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.) Visit the business's website to book an appointment.
