One elementary school serving Cabbagetown and nearby neighborhoods has something to brag about: A reading proficiency rating that places it No. 5 among the 58 elementary and community schools in Atlanta Public Schools. That’s according to recently released data for this school year from Niche.com.

We used the data to rank the public elementary schools in the district according to the percentage of their students who scored proficient or above in reading on state exams. At Mary Lin Elementary, that was 78% — the fifth-highest in the district and well above the average for elementaries of 29%.
