A new international grocery store has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Sahadi's, this fresh addition to Sunset Park's Industry City is located at 34 35th St.
This is the first-ever expansion for Sahadi's, the family-owned institution that opened up on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights in 1948. While the original Sahadi's has a cozy deli feel, this new outpost is housed in a 7,500-square-foot space that boasts a wine bar, cafe and outdoor patio.
At Sahadi's, you can stock up on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern groceries, from bulk nuts and seeds to spices, olive oil, hummus and more. Also, stop by the lunch counter for sandwiches made on fresh-made saj (unleavened flatbread), or post up at the bar for a glass of Lebanese wine.
Sahadi's has gotten good reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp.
Christian Y., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 22, wrote, "It's beautifully done with a variety of imported European goodies. There's fresh produce, bulk bins of coffee, nuts, grains, a lot of cheese, and plenty of olive oils, sauces, vinegars, spices and even French sodas. I've been waiting for Sahadi's to open here and it does not disappoint! The grocery section is reasonably priced for an IC store, and the only downside is the hours. They close at 5!"
Yelper Marisa D. noted, “This place is a dreamscape for anyone obsessed with food. From the saj to the hummus to olives to the beautiful little tins of imported sardines, you'll want to buy it all."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Sahadi's is open from 10 a.m.–7 p.m. daily.
