Interested in adopting a pet — or just taking a peek at some cuddly canines up for adoption? There are dozens of darling dogs up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Tucson.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of dogs currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Rickey, greyhound

Rickey is an adorable male greyhound dog being kept at Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption.

Rickey needs special time to bond with you: He will need a home free of other dogs, cats and kids. He is already neutered and vaccinated. He's mastered his house-training etiquette.

Here's what Rickey's friends at Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption think of him:

Overall, Rickey is turning out to be a nice dog. He is not a cuddle dog, but is starting to enjoy the pets and rubs that I have been doing. He is slowly starting to wag his tail when I talk to him. He likes the attention and human interaction.

Paris, chihuahua

Paris is a lovable female chihuahua dog currently residing at HOPE Animal Shelter.

Paris is spayed, and she has had all her shots.

Paris' current caretakers say:

She is the ultimate purse pooch. She would prefer to be in a home with someone around much of the time, or she can feel a bit anxious... Paris is playful but is also happy just cuddling in your lap under a blanket. She would do good in a house with other small dogs to play with but also would be fine being the only dog to get all the love.

Daisy, Labrador retriever mix

Daisy is a female Labrador retriever mix being kept at BARK (Baby Animal Rescue Koalition).

Daisy loves to socialize, and she'll get along great with other dogs, cats and children. She is already spayed and vaccinated.

Notes from Daisy's caretakers:

She is a sweet and loving dog that just wants a home that will provide her with attention and love for the rest of her life.

Leia, husky

Leia is a female husky dog being cared for at HOPE Animal Shelter.

She is already vaccinated and spayed.

Notes from Leia's caretakers:

Leia is the most gorgeous husky girl who loves people and dogs and is so soft... She is very sweet and wants to give everyone kisses... She is also a fast learner... She could be in a home with or without other dogs, but we think she would prefer having a playmate. Active owners would be best, and husky experience or knowledge is a must.

Lola, terrier

Lola is a darling female terrier dog in the care of Cold Wet Noses Fosters.

Lola is the life of the party — she loves children, dogs or cats. Lola is spayed, and she has had all her shots.

From Lola's current caretaker:

Her back was injured leaving her partially paralyzed, but it doesn't seem to have made much difference to her easy-going personality... She has both a cart and a drag bag and generally stays with us, her foster humans, without too much trouble... She needs a little help peeing and pooping, which is easily managed with just a little pressure on her tummy and at the base of her tail, and will need a family that can help her with that at least four or five times a day so that she doesn't get bladder infections.

Duke, American bulldog and boxer mix

Duke is a darling male American bulldog and boxer mix in the care of HOPE Animal Shelter.

He's been vaccinated and neutered.

Here's what Duke's friends at HOPE Animal Shelter think of him:

This cool guy loves his sister Lana, his toy and his friends. Everyone he meets is instantly considered his friend. He is very hyper for an older guy (he's about 10) and could even be mistaken for a young boy.
