Swiss chocolatier Läderach has opened its first U.S. location in Midtown, at 731 Lexington Ave.
Founded in Switzerland in 1962, the boutique chocolatier has since expanded across Europe and into Asia and the Middle East. While this is Läderach's first retail outpost in the U.S., the company plans to open additional locations on Fifth Avenue and in the American Dream Meadowlands complex in early 2020.
Läderach sells chocolate and other confections produced at its factory in Switzerland. At the Lexington Avenue shop, customers will find truffles, chocolate-covered marshmallows and bulk chocolate bars available by the pound, among other treats. Läderach's products are also available online; see its website for more information.
With a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival has made a promising start.
Hannah O., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 27, wrote, "Wow, such a great chocolate shop with so many goodies."
Yelper Ashley C. noted, "They have advent calendars and other gorgeous boxed chocolates that are perfect for gifting. I can not recommend this place enough."
