Curious where New York City's insiders are eating and drinking? It's easy to spot lines out the door, but some underlying trends are harder to see.

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which local businesses have been getting a notable increase in attention this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at New York City businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are riding a trend this winter.

Soho Diner

First, this diner, which has been open since December, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Diners" on Yelp.

Citywide, diners saw a median 1.5% increase in new reviews over the past month. Soho Diner only recently appeared on Yelp, but while many new businesses struggle to gain reviews, it has seen strong initial popularity.

Located in Soho Grand Hotel at 320 W. Broadway (between Canal and Grand streets) in SoHo, Soho Diner serves modern takes on diner favorites, like a tuna melt with aged cheddar, a BLT with crushed avocado and chili mayo, turkey potpie, all-day breakfast, a molten peanut butter banana split and more. There are veggie-friendly options, too, such as an Impossible burger, vegan banana pancakes and a vegan matcha milkshake.

Soho Diner is open 24 hours a day.
