
A new cocktail bar and Basque and Spanish spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Kalimotxo, the newcomer is located at 607 W. Third St., Suite 105, in Downtown.
A new spot from executive chef Kevin Fink and partner-chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph, it was Inspired by co-partner Rand Egbert's passion for Spanish culture and cuisine. The drink menu boasts a dozen different cocktails including a Spanish gin and tonic, which is made with gin, elderflower tonic, clove, juniper and thyme. Must-try food items include the pintxos, sliced jamón ibérico (Spanish cured ham), preserved seafood and Basque burnt cheesecake.
With a four-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, Kalimotxo has gotten a good response.
Lauren B., who reviewed the new spot on Dec. 23, wrote, "Amazing Spanish-influenced cocktails in a fun environment. Service was awesome and the pintxos were tasty too! There's a big patio with comfortable couches and fire tables. Definitely the new spot to be!"
