A new bar, diner and New American spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called Counter Culture, the newcomer is located at 2909 W. Bay To Bay Blvd., Suite 100 in Tampa-Bayshore Gardens.
At Counter Culture, chef Pierola pays "modern homage to classic counter dining and its barstool kinship between diners and the kitchen," notes the restaurant's website.
The menu changes frequently and has featured items like charcoal-grilled wagyu culotte, pimenton fried octopus, rabbit pappardelle and stone crab tostada. Finish off your meal with the warm chocolate cake for dessert.
With a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, the new bar is on its way to developing a local fan base.
Lisa L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Dec. 31, wrote, "I would say the cod is the best I've had in Tampa Bay, similar to eating sea bass: buttery, soft and flaky. We splurged on dessert and ordered the ricotta doughnuts and hot chocolate cake. Wow, what a way to end a perfect meal!"
Noelle L. added, "We started by wetting our whistles with the Old Town Smash (its take on an Old Fashioned) and a Little Water (very refreshing and not overly sweet). We then ordered the octopus (to die for!), an absolute hit."
Head on over to check it out: Counter Culture is open from 5–10 p.m. daily.
