These Aurora-based felines are up for adoption and in need of a good homePhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just gazing at some lovable kitties near you? There are dozens of deserving cats up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Aurora.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of cats currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Lulu, domestic longhair

Lulu is a darling female domestic longhair cat being kept at Animal Rescue of the Rockies.

Lulu has been vaccinated and spayed, and she is already house-trained.

Lulu's current caretakers say:

This little girl is truly a survivor. In order to get to my house from her former address, she had to travel across coyote-infested fields and cross a major highway. LuLu loves being brushed and really enjoys it if you sit with her while she eats. She seems to be able to tolerate only one cat. Too many and she'll let out a little hiss.

Wisteria, domestic shorthair

Wisteria is a lovable female domestic shorthair cat being kept at Animal Rescue of the Rockies.

Wisteria is already spayed, vaccinated and house-trained.

Wisteria's current caretakers say:

We quickly discovered that Wisteria is a house cat at heart and loves the indoor, spoiled kitty life. She gratefully soaks in every sunbeam, soft blanket, catnip mouse and loving pet. She shows her affection with snuggles and purrs (and purrs, and purrs...). Wisteria would do best in a home with adults or older children.

Treya, domestic shorthair

Treya is a female domestic shorthair cat in the care of Animal Rescue of the Rockies.

Treya loves other cats. She's already spayed, vaccinated and house-trained.

From Treya's current caretaker:

This little three-legged survivor was living outside an apartment complex in northwest Denver. We are not sure what happened to part of her leg and foot, but it's healed and she's pretty darn fast and agile. She is a purr machine and a sweet girl. She loves being an indoor kitty and thanks her foster mom daily with soft meows, huge purrs and strong head butts under the chin, and loves to lay on her human's chest. She would really like to be with another kitty friend too.

Dipsy, domestic shorthair

Dipsy is a winsome female domestic shorthair cat being cared for at Animal Rescue of the Rockies.

Dipsy will get along great with your dogs, cats and kids. She has been spayed and vaccinated, and she has mastered her house-training etiquette.

Notes from Dipsy's caretakers:

Dipsy is first a loving mother and second, a great cat. She came in with her daughter Tipsy and they have some separation anxiety, so they will definitely need to be adopted together. Both are wonderful, though.

Boo, domestic shorthair

Boo is a charming female domestic shorthair cat currently housed at Animal Rescue of the Rockies.

Boo is friendly as can be, and she's happy to keep company with other cats and dogs. She has had all of her shots, she's spayed, and she has mastered her house-training etiquette.

From Boo's current caretaker:

Boo is the quintessential kitten: funny, mischievous, sweet and cuddly. Boo ferociously and adorably "hunts" pipe cleaners. She will entertain herself and her humans tossing and pouncing until she is worn out and ready for some snuggles. She loves laps and to be held like a baby. She is also quite a talker.
