Topping the list is Uchi. Located at 801 S. Lamar Blvd. in Zilker, the sushi bar and Japanese spot, which offers beer, wine and spirits and more, is the most popular high-end sushi spot in Austin, boasting 4.5 stars out of 2,343 reviews on Yelp.

If you're curious for more, we found these details about Uchi.

Founded by James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole, this sushi spot offers "non-traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi and seasonal omakase," it notes on Yelp in the section explaining specialties.

2. Uchiko

Next is Rosedale's Uchiko, situated at 4200 N. Lamar Blvd., Suite 140. With 4.5 stars out of 1,706 reviews on Yelp, the sushi bar, gluten-free and Japanese spot has proven to be a local favorite for those looking to indulge.

Uchiko, which means "child of uchi" in Japanese, is the latest venture from  executive chef Tyson Cole who opened Uchi in 2003.

Uchiko features "a new menu with Uchi's same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening, and an eat-in bar and café area," according to the business' Yelp page.

Soto Restaurant, located at 11066 Pecan Park Blvd., Suite 402, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the fancy sushi bar and Japanese spot 4.5 stars out of 766 reviews.

Behind Soto Restaurant is chef Andy, who began his culinary training in Japan at his uncle's restaurant. "He has worked for some of the best Japanese restaurants and chefs in the world including iron chef Masaharu Morimoto," the business notes on Yelp in the history section.

As to what the business is known for, "Our sushi restaurant provides the best makimono in the area. We offer vibrant flavors, and use the highest quality ingredients for each of our dishes, giving you an experience you won't forget!"—that's courtesy of the business' Yelp profile.
