A new, Korean-inspired gastropub has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called East Hae, the newcomer is located on the third floor of Urban Outfitters' Space98 at 98 N. Sixth St.
East Hae offers a menu of elevated bar snacks and pub grub that draw on the flavors of Korean cuisine. Check out small plates like the chargrilled oysters with garlic miso butter, the chicken wings with spicy gochujang glaze and the selection of grilled kochi skewers featuring octopus, short rib, shishito peppers and more. If you're looking for something more substantial, try the bulgogi burger, crispy chicken sandwich or shareable fish ssam.
The drink list at East Hae features six signature cocktails, such as the Yeongi, made with rum, smoked pineapple and tiki bitters and the Seoglyu, with gin, amaro and cinnamon. The bar also serves beer, wine, sake and soju. East Hae's third-floor space boasts a rooftop area, which it plans to open up in April.
With a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, the new gastropub is on its way to developing a local fan base.
