A new Italian restaurant and wine bar has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Called Ita Italian Kitchen, the fresh arrival is located at 682 Bergen Ave. in McGinley Square.
As Jersey Digs reports, Ita Italian Kitchen has been nearly two years in the making, a planning process that included a complete gut renovation of its corner storefront, which now boasts tiled walls, a bar area and an open kitchen. Owned by Steve Papas, who also owns Carvao BBQ next door, the new restaurant offers guests a casual Italian experience centered on classic antipasti, homemade pasta and other traditional fare. Check out the pizzas made on house-made dough, such as the spicy diavola, the artichoke pie and the vegan pizza with cashew cheese. The restaurant also serves 20 different draft beers, as well as wine by the bottle and by the glass.
The business has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Sophie E., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 29, wrote, "My first time to Jersey City, and this restaurant will keep me coming back! I love the design of the place, especially the open-kitchen layout, so you can see all the chefs at work."
