A new vegan sushi bar and izakaya has opened in the neighborhood. Called Chikyu, the fresh addition is located at 1740 E. Serene Ave., Suite 130, in southeast Las Vegas.

The entire menu of the plant-based Japanese restaurant is vegan, with most menu items being gluten free as well. House specialties feature roots, flowers, seaweeds and mushrooms, and other menu items include smoked beet salad and grilled shishito peppers.

With a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Chikyu has already made a good impression.

Eugenia B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 9, wrote, "We ordered tsukemono, inari nigiri, avocado roll, umeboshi roll, kinmaki, desert gold and stream orchid. You can tell there is a lot of pride in the making of these dishes; everything is beautiful and prepared well. ... Everything was delicious."

Yelper Jeff J. added, “This food is amazing. Terrific flavors whether you are vegan or not. We tried two salads, two rolls, two starters and two nigiri. All were flavorful and beautiful.”

Intrigued? Stop by to try it for yourself. Chikyu is open for takeout only from 4–9 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
