Interested in adopting a pet — or just taking a peek at some delightful doggies up for adoption? There are dozens of endearing dogs up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Seattle.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of dogs currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Jake, Siberian husky

Jake is a lovable male Siberian husky dog staying at Dog Gone Seattle.

Jake loves other dogs, cats and children. He has mastered his house-training etiquette. Jake is neutered and vaccinated.

Here's what Jake's friends at Dog Gone Seattle think of him:

He has been living at a foster home in Texas where he's been well behaved, house trained and crate trained. Jake has recovered from being hit by a car in Texas, due to the accident injuries he needed his tail amputated. Jake will benefit from an active home. He does enjoy waking up his people by howling so we will not be considering apartments at this time.

Mylee, shepherd and shar-pei mix

Mylee is a lovable female shepherd and shar-pei mix staying at Dog Gone Seattle.

Mylee will get along great with other dogs. She is already house-trained. Mylee has had all her shots.

Notes from Mylee's caretakers:

Mylee loves other dogs and was definitely the "follower" when it came to her siblings. She can still be a little shy at times, but is doing very well with learning people are good. She loves treats, so that is an easy way to work on her basic training. She also loved to run and play with her siblings, so an active home will be good for her age and size. She will benefit from a quiet home that will help her gain confidence when out and about.

Cake, German shepherd

Cake is an adorable female German shepherd dog being kept at Washington German Shepherd Rescue.

Cake is happy to keep company with cats and dogs. She has mastered her house-training etiquette. She's spayed, and she has had all her shots.

Here's what Cake's friends at Washington German Shepherd Rescue think of her:

Cake is a super sweet, silly and playful 16-month-old German Shepherd. Her name is a bit of a cliche, but she really is as sweet as a chocolate cake! Cake can be a little timid at first, but once she settles in and trusts you, she is an absolute sweetheart. She is still learning basic commands, such as sit, down and walking on a leash. She is doing great with crate training and will happily put herself in the crate for a nap. Cake is dog- and cat-friendly and loves playing with her foster brother. She has great house manners and doesn't get into anything.

Nacho, pit bull terrier and hound mix

Nacho is a male pit bull terrier and hound mix in the care of Dog Gone Seattle.

Nacho gets along well with other dogs. His ideal forever home would be a cat-free environment. He is already house-trained. Nacho is neutered and vaccinated.

Here's what Nacho's friends at Dog Gone Seattle think of him:

He's about six years old, sweet with his foster family and does well with other dogs off leash. He's had full obedience training and has excellent leash manners but does require a skilled handler that can provide good leadership. He is affectionate and loves to cuddle with his foster family. Nacho's ideal home will be with a dog-savvy couple or family in a single-family residence (no apartments) with no toddlers because he's very strong, and no other dogs or cats. We're also looking for a forever home for this great guy where his training will be continued.

Apply to adopt Nacho today at Petfinder.

Skittles, terrier and chihuahua mix

Skittles is a charming female terrier and chihuahua mix currently housed at Dog Gone Seattle.

Her vaccinations are up to date.

Notes from Skittles' caretakers:

Skittles is an adorable and petite terrier mix estimated to be around 10 years old. She was listed as being timid at the shelter, but we have no doubt she will come out of her shell once she is in foster care.
