Topping the list is an outpost of the chain Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken. Located at 1308 G St. NW downtown, it is the most popular low-priced chicken spot in Washington, boasting four stars out of 1,131 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Akshay L., who reviewed Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken on March 4, wrote, "I got the savory biscuit and fried chicken, and I have to say it was pretty flavorful, not too heavy since the portion is a little smaller, but very tasty nonetheless. If you are looking for some quick food that is sweet and delicious and not just average, do visit."

2. KoChix

Edgewood's Huacatay Peruvian Chicken, located at 2314 Fourth St. NE, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the inexpensive spot 4.5 stars out of 150 reviews.

Yelper Cham K., who reviewed Huacatay Peruvian Chicken on Feb. 29, wrote, "As for the chicken, very good, considering we swear by Pollo Rico in Arlington. Not as juicy and tender, but delicious nonetheless."

And Gabriela N. wrote, "Delicious Peruvian rotisserie chicken. This is my second time coming to this place and it does not disappoint. My favorite sides are the yuca fries and regular fries. My favorite sauces are yellow and green."

As to what the business is known for, "'Ain't No Thing Like a Chicken Wing' is our company motto," it writes on Yelp. "Made the traditional way by deep frying and covering them in a homemade sauce. Nineteen different flavors to choose from. Boneless wings are also available at no extra charge."
