A new Tex-Mex spot, offering tacos and barbecue, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Located at 1815 Mangum Road in Spring Branch East, the fresh addition is called Smokey Cheeks.

Smokey Cheeks offers meat by the pound (pork, beef, chicken), tacos and hot Cuban sandwiches, along with sides like beans, coleslaw, fries and loaded baked potatoes. Explore the entire menu here.

Smokey Cheeks has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.

Melissa F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 6, wrote, "This place has the most amazing tacos, breakfast tacos and queso! We took the queso and chips to a party and everyone kept asking where we got it! Literally the best in Houston!"

And Kevin A. wrote, "I had build-your-own OG tacos and tried it with carne asada. It had a generous portion of meat and with the other ingredients, it was a well-balanced taco. Delicious. I will definitely return to try other items."

Head on over to check it out: Smokey Cheeks is open from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
