Jaz, Great Dane and Labrador retriever mix

Jaz is a darling female Great Dane and Labrador retriever mix currently housed at Code Red Rescue.

Jaz gets along well with other dogs, and doesn't mind children. Don't worry: Her vaccinations are already up to date, she's spayed and she is house-trained.

Here's what Jaz's friends at Code Red Rescue think of her:

Jaz is a sweet mama that had babies way too young, and was dumped at the shelter right after they were weaned. She loves everyone she meets. She is perfect on a leash, and loves to be right by your side for lots of lovin'!

Seal, shepherd mix

Seal is a lovable female shepherd mix being cared for at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Seal's ideal forever home would be a dog-free and child-free environment. Fear not: She's already house-trained, vaccinated and spayed.

Seal's current caretakers say:

Meet Seal! She knows commands: sit, down, leave it and give a paw. Seal is head-over-heels for walks (literally — she loves them so much she loses her mind just a bit). She would honestly prefer a running partner. She also loves fetching squeaky balls and gutting squeaky toys, playing tug-o-war, laying in the sunshine and eating. Oh — and the hose! It’s her favorite! Seal loves to be around her human, and attaches hard. She is so soft and sweet, and gives the best kisses. But, she will also put on her tough-girl bark to keep you protected from all those Amazon deliveries.

Max, retriever and shepherd mix

Max is a cheeky male retriever and shepherd mix being cared for at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Max would do best in a household without children, dogs or other animals. He is already house-trained, vaccinated and neutered.

A few words from Max's current caretakers:

Max now knows sit, stay, come and shake. He walks on the leash really good, and is just beginning to play. I really think he would make a great dog for someone who is willing to work with him on training and gaining his trust. It takes him a little while to warm up to you, but once he does, he is just a big cuddle bug. It will take a special person who is willing to continue to work with him, and give him the love and chance he deserves.

Cali, terrier and pit bull terrier mix

Cali is an adorable female terrier and pit bull terrier mix currently housed at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Cali wants all your attention: She needs a forever home free of other dogs. Rest assured: She's already spayed, vaccinated and house-trained.

About Cali:

Hi I'm Cali — I'm very affectionate, and will get attached to my humans quickly. I love cuddling up next to you and trying to squeeze onto your lap. If you work from home, I'll be happiest sitting right next to you with my head on your lap while you work. I don't even mind the sound of typing on a laptop, or listening to conference calls, I just want to be as close to your lap as possible. Although I love sleeping and cuddling, I still have lots of happy puppy energy! I haven't met a toy I didn't like. I particularly enjoy chasing bouncing tennis balls around the house, and getting the squeakers out of toys. Please take me on several walks a day, and take me with you if you go running. I love to be outside and be active, plus I'm great at running on the leash — unless I get distracted and want to say hi to another dog!

Maple, terrier and American bulldog mix

Maple is a darling female terrier and American bulldog mix staying at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Maple would prefer to be placed in a household without other dogs. No need for concern: She is already house-trained, spayed and has had all her shots.

Meet Maple:

Maple is a four-year-old American bulldog mix. She loves to take naps wherever she can. She has a very calm demeanor. She is food-motivated and is learning basic obedience. She is still learning not to pull on the leash while she is walked, but enjoys long walks and can keep up on a three-mile run. Overall, Maple is a sweetheart that will make a great addition to your family.

Mattie, terrier and pit bull terrier mix

Mattie is a charming male terrier and pit bull terrier mix being kept at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Mattie would do best in a dog-free and child-free forever home. He has already been vaccinated, house-trained and neutered.

A bit more on Mattie:

Mattie loves it when his foster mom gives him cereal, or a little bit of meat. He even eats green beans. Mattie's favorite thing to do is take a nap on his soft doggie bed pillow. He takes a minute to wake up after his naps, and would sleep there all day if you let him. He does snore, but it is really cute and it isn't loud enough to disturb. Mattie is a senior guy that loves being spoiled. He loves being on the couch next to his people, but needs help getting up there.

Chester, Plott hound mix

Chester is a winsome male Plott hound mix currently housed at City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter.

Chester gets along swimmingly with other dogs or kids, but he is looking for cat-free household. Good news: He is already house-trained, vaccinated and neutered.

From Chester's current caretaker:

Chester has a great temperament, and has clearly had some training in the past. He likes cuddling, going on walks or runs, sitting on your feet and chewing on all things. His favorite toys are rope toys and stuffed animals. His personality is sweet and protective. He gets a little jealous and likes lots of attention. I think he would be happier with somebody that could devote a lot of time to him.
