The former Armory Club now reopen as upscale cocktail spot Dahlia ClubPaul V. via Yelp

When historic Armory at 14th and Mission Streets was sold off by Kink.com in 2018, it’s sort of sister bar the Armory Club across the street was instantly rendered an anachronism. The space tried to re-theme itself, but the glory days were clearly over, and the Armory Club closed last summer.

This summer brings new flora to the former Armory Club. It’s new incarnation Dahlia Club apparently had a soft opening there Memorial Day weekend, and Eater SF has some preview pics of Dahlia Club’s cocktails, which range from tiki drinks to elderflower liqueur cocktails.

Per the SF Business Times, “Dahlia is the brainchild of Paul Volfovski, whose past concepts include local bars Copyright and Trademark. He assembled a ‘dream team’ of investment partners to take over the nearly 3,000-square-foot space, including Kingston Wu (co-owner of Westwood and Thriller), Arash Ghanadan (Novella and Barbarossa) and Trung Tran (Heroes, Hometown Bowl).”

The interior is, thus far, not that dissimilar to the old Armory Club. But you can see the “wall of skulls” above is a new addition, and while the front bar and back room structure remains in place there have been refreshes on many of the booths, with neon fixtures, flower displays, and candle arrangements.

And while it is no longer an “Armory Club,” Dahlia Club is doing tie-ins to whatever is at the Armory Space, currently the “Stranger Things Experience”  running through mid-August.

Dahlia Lounge is at 1799 Mission Street (at 14th Street), open Wednesday-Sunday, 5pm-2am.
