In the Mission District of San Francisco, between 22nd Street and Treat Avenue, lies Parcel 36, a contested and somewhat mysterious abandoned railway spur that has become home to a community garden. The land's legal ownership remains unclear, but tensions have recently escalated between guerrilla gardeners of Mission Greenway and internet company Monkeybrains. The conflict reached boiling point last week when a physical altercation erupted between opposing sides. As city departments and attorneys attempt to sort out the ownership of the land, both interior and exterior work permits are pending.
