Three deaths occurred in two separate overnight shootings in Oakland, taking the city by surprise. One other individual was left injured, still fighting for their life.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Oakland police responded to the scene at the 1100 block of 89th Avenue near D Street, where they found two victims with gunshot wounds, both of whom died at the scene despite receiving medical help, according to KRON4.
Hours later, just before 5 a.m., officers were called to another incident in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue, where they found another person with a gunshot wound(s) that had taken their life, and soon after, were notified of a second victim who arrived at a local hospital injured.
While the names of the victims have not been released, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office coroner's bureau is responsible for the next-of-kin notification, considering the Oakland police have not yet made any arrests in either case, as SF Standard also noted that the second victim's condition from the 18th Avenue shooting was not immediately available on Wednesday morning.
With officers on high alert and the public assisting in furnishing any leads, the Oakland police urge anyone with information to contribute by calling their homicide section at (510) 238-3821 or a tip line at (510) 238-7950 in hopes of preventing future tragedies.
