A rolling gun battle unfolded in downtown Oakland today, leaving several vehicles and at least one building damaged by gunfire, but luckily, no casualties were reported, according to Mercury News. While the exact reason behind the violent incident is still unclear, an investigation is underway to determine the underlying cause and identify those involved.
The incident began around 12:21 p.m. in the area of Ninth Street and Broadway, a mere two blocks from the Police Administration Building. Witnesses claimed to have heard gunshots ringing out as occupants of two vehicles engaged in a heated exchange of gunfire over the course of several blocks before it ended.
Police promptly responded by cordoning off various streets, including Clay Street, as the search for evidence and possibly hidden victims continued. Although no injured individuals were found immediately, it is important to note that parked vehicles and a nearby building were struck by bullets during the shootout. While no arrests have been announced yet, Oakland authorities are working diligently to piece together the series of events that led to this unsettling episode.
