On Saturday, August 26th, a harrowing rescue unfolded as a hiker suffered a traumatic injury on the Helen Mark Trail.
According to the CHP Golden Gate Air Ops, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) H-30 crew was called on to respond to the incident, teaming up with a Marin County Fire Helicopter Rescue Technician (HRT) member. The injured hiker's location in a remote and difficult to access area of the trail demanded expert coordination and precision from the rescue teams.
The ensuing mission saw the H-30 crew performing an approximate 150-foot hoist to carefully reach the injured hiker. Upon securing the hiker, the crew then transported them to a waiting ambulance, ensuring that proper medical care would be provided as soon as possible.
