Witnesses shared their accounts of the unfolding events with NBC San Diego, revealing that the bus driver made an effort to call the authorities during the students' departure from the vehicle, which unfortunately escalated the situation. The video showcases one student pushing the elderly driver to the ground before striking him, while another student is seen kicking him repeatedly.

In a statement provided to NBC San Diego, NCTD spokesperson Colleen Windsor expressed the agency's concern regarding the encounter, while Escondido Union High School District Superintendent Jon Peterson announced their own investigation in collaboration with the police and NCTD.
