In Encinitas, an 82-year-old man has found himself in custody after allegedly stabbing his wife during an argument. The violent event took place on Thursday, August 24th on the 1000 block of C Street, according to a report by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to a 9-1-1 call made by a neighbor after the visibly injured wife sought their help. It was found that during the dispute, which escalated and turned physical, the husband stabbed his wife with a knife. Both the wife and the husband were taken to the hospital for treatment, with the wife's injuries described as non-life-threatening and the husband treated for minor injuries.
The husband, Clark Sandknop, born August 22nd, 1933, has since been booked into the Vista Detention Facility. He faces charges of attempted murder and felony elder abuse. In maintaining the privacy of domestic violence and elder abuse victims, the wife's identifying information will not be released by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Thankfully, the wife sought help and received assistance from both her neighbor and law enforcement. In times of crisis, a support system can make all the difference. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger due to a domestic violence situation, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.
