According to an announcement made on the Piedmont Police Department's Facebook page, the accident took place at 4:45 pm, prompting a road closure at Grand Ave., between Arroyo and Lower Grand Ave.

Piedmont Fire Department responded swiftly using the Jaws of Life to remove the trapped driver, potentially saving their life. Due to the severity of the accident and the need for a thorough investigation, the road closure remained in effect for approximately two hours. During this time, the Police Department requested the public to avoid the impacted area.
