On Friday evening, Sharilyn McCormick embarked on a routine trip to her local post office in Menifee, California. A simple errand would soon turn into a distressing and desperate search for the woman who has been reported missing and at risk due to her recent memory issues and confusion. As details of her disappearance emerged, local law enforcement urged the public to support the investigation and assist the McCormick family in locating their beloved grandmother. Thankfully, due to the coordinated efforts, Sharilyn was found alive and well on Sunday.
According to the San Diego Police Department, after informing her grandson of her intended destination, McCormick did not return home as expected. Upon contacting her, she explained that she had become lost somewhere in Los Angeles. With the help of her cell phone's tracking feature, her location was later traced to an area near 1399 9th Avenue in San Diego—almost a hundred miles from her initial starting point. Unfortunately, her phone ran out of power.
While missing, Sharilyn McCormick was last seen driving her 2013 white four-door Toyota Camry, with a California license plate number of 7GWA773.
Given her cognitive challenges, McCormick's family and the authorities were especially concerned for her safety and well-being.
The successful search ended two days after it started, as reported by San Diego Police.
