Over the weekend, a terrifying series of events unfolded on the 800 block of Elizabeth Way in El Cajon. According to an El Cajon Police Department statement, a homeless man identified as 30-year-old Domonick Medlock of San Francisco, allegedly attempted to break into several homes, grabbing three female victims and attempting to force his way inside.
The El Cajon Police Department responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls, and upon arrival, a foot chase ensued which ultimately led to Medlock's detention. One of the victims reported being punched in the neck by the assailant. As Times of San Diego reported, the situation took a terrifying turn when Medlock entered a home where a father was inside with his children.
Acting on instinct to protect his loved ones, the father grabbed a wooden rod nearby and successfully defended his family, chasing the intruder out of the residence. Medlock was subsequently arrested and now faces multiple felony charges including kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, assault, battery, and burglary.
His arrest came as a relief to the community, as it brought an end to the threatening incident. He is being held without bail, awaiting arraignment scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, as mentioned in another Times of San Diego article.
