Yesterday a 24-year-old man walking his dog was abruptly struck by a white SUV which fled the scene. The man was left motionless in the middle of the road and subsequently transported to a local hospital with major injuries. Throughout this horrifying event, the victim's dog faced its own harrowing ordeal - struck as well, on the loose, and injured until a compassionate resident brought it to safety via the Santa Rosa Police Department.

The Santa Rosa Police Department, swiftly responding to the scene, utilized security camera footage from residences in the neighborhood to identify and ultimately track down the suspect. Eriberto Morales, a 65-year-old transient with a previous DUI arrest, was apprehended later that evening. In a bizarre turn of events, Morales himself called 911, stating, "I may have hit someone." Upon arrival, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him and arrested him on the charges of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run.

As of now, the pedestrian in the August 26th collision remains in critical condition, and no further information has been shared regarding the status of the injured dog.
