A hit-and-run in Southcrest left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries on Monday night, causing concern among community members and prompting a search for the driver at fault, who fled the scene after the crash. According to Fox 5 San Diego, the incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on the 3700 block of National Avenue while the 46-year-old victim was attempting to cross the street, when the driver of a GMC Sierra veered into the pedestrian, striking him down in the westbound lane.

Not stopping there, the driver of the truck continued, colliding with a wall before finally making an escape, per 10 News. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with multiple fractures and a collapsed lung; however, thankfully, his injuries have been determined as non-life-threatening, Fox 5 San Diego reported.

SDPD officers were able to locate the abandoned GMC truck, which had been left in the 3600 block of Logan Avenue, but the suspect remains on the loose, as mentioned on 10 News. With the suspect still at large, the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division has taken on the investigation, urging any witnesses or anyone with information related to the collision to come forward and assist in bringing the driver to justice.
