A 13-year-old female took her parents' Tesla for a joyride that ended in a shocking crash leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. According to a Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) news release, officers were sent to the scene on King Street around 4:35 am, where they found the severely damaged car after it collided with a utility pole, three parked vehicles, and a street sign.
Miraculously, the three juveniles involved managed to escape the wreckage with only minor injuries, a fortunate outcome considering the potential danger of such an accident. The teenage girl who, it turns out, did not have permission to drive the car, apparently lost control on King Street when she hit a dip in the road, causing the vehicle to spin out uncontrollably and collide with multiple obstacles in its path.

Upon speaking to the juveniles, SRPD officers ascertained that the young driver had indeed been operating the family Tesla without her parents' knowledge or approval. The parents of all three minors were notified, and authorities are still in the process of determining whether alcohol played a role in the incident, or if any other factors or persons were involved in this unexpected turn of events.
Utility company PG&E was called to the scene to inspect the damaged pole, and as of their latest update, there is no indication that any residents in the surrounding area have lost power because of this incident. Santa Rosa authorities have requested that anyone with information regarding this collision contact Officer Ashley Odetto for further investigation.
