
Chicago witnessed five separate shooting incidents in the early morning hours of September 30, 2023. The targeted citizens ranged from 24 to 53 years old. All of the shootings occurred on city sidewalks and the suspects are still at large.
At around 2:00 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg and arm while standing on the sidewalk in the 11100 block of S. Langley. The man, transported to Christ by CFD, remains in good condition.
In the 2100 block of S. Albany also, shots were fired at a 28-year-old individual standing on the sidewalk to. Chicago Police Department reports indicate he walked himself into St. Anthony’s and is in good condition, with a gunshot wound to the face.
As part of, a separate incident, an ominous silver sedan was observed in the violent assault of three people in the 3600 block of W. Flournoy around the same time. The victims, two males and one female aged between 25 to 53, were all targeted and suffered gunshot wounds. All remain in serious condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital
Another attack unfolded in the 300 block of N. Laflin where a 24-year-old male was shot in the right leg while standing on the sidewalk. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, and his condition is reported as good (source).
At approximately 4:55 a.m., the quiet was shattered on the 6200 block of S. Lake Shore Drive as a 30-year-old male was shot in the shoulder and hip while seated on a curb. He was transported to the University of Chicago in critical condition; the assailant is still at large (source).
These violent incidences, not only have an effect on the victims but also resonate through the neighborhoods in which they occurred.
