Susan Marcia Rose, was a 24-year-old Boston woman who was raped and murdered on October 30, 1979. Her family's quest for closure has finally led to the arrest of John Michael Irmer, 68, from Portland, Oregon, more than four decades after the crime, according to the Boston Police Derpartment.
Over the past month, FBI agents in Portland, Oregon, collaborated with the Boston Police Homicide Unit and the Portland Police Department.
After working diligently, they discovered recent information that linked Irmer to the unsolved 1979 homicide. Irmer was subsequently arrested, and the outstanding warrant issued by the Boston Municipal Court was finally acted upon.
Irmer is scheduled to be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court today, Monday, September 11, 2023.
