A disturbing scene unfolded on Southampton Road in Montgomery as a vehicle was broken into by a group of at least three individuals, yesterday morning. The crime was captured on video, sparking concern among community members and leading authorities to call for public assistance in identifying the culprits. Russell-Montgomery Police Department shared the footage, believing that the group may be responsible for other similar incidents in the area.
According to WWLP, at around 3:00 a.m. on that fateful morning, a suspicious vehicle stopped in front of a residence with two parked cars. The suspects’ actions were captured by surveillance cameras, as one of them tried to open an SUV's door while another attempted to access a truck. After some struggle, both suspects turned their focus to the SUV, eventually forcing its door open; however, they triggered the car alarm in the process.
As the alarm blared, the suspects quickly grabbed items from the SUV before returning to their getaway vehicle and fleeing the scene. The police believe there were three suspects in total, with one remaining in the getaway vehicle while the other two committed the burglary, according to the same WWLP article. Authorities also suspect that this group may be linked to other break-ins in nearby communities, heightening fears and prompting a robust investigation.
The Russell-Montgomery Police Department is currently appealing to residents for any relevant information, images, or videos that could aid in solving these cases and putting an end to this crime spree.
