
A residential break-in occured in the Hamilton neighborhood of Novato, California yesterday, as an armed suspect remains on the loose. According to a Nixle report, Novato Police Officers received an alarming report at approximately 7:17 PM, stating that a residential burglary was in progress in the 200 block of Marin Valley Drive.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowner, who confirmed the suspect had fled the scene, running towards a creek area just north of Bolling Drive. The individual was described as a Hispanic male adult in his thirties, garbed in a light brown baseball cap, neon green shirt, and brown pants. The suspect brandished a 4–6-inch knife at the homeowner during the confrontation within their residence.
An extensive search effort ensued, with numerous officers from the Novato Police Department, Marin County Sheriff's Office, and a police helicopter from the California Highway Patrol joining the effort to apprehend the intruder. The surrounding area was placed under a temporary shelter-in-place alert as the search continued. Unfortunately, the search teams were unable to locate the suspect and later determined that he was no longer in the vicinity.
As the break-in occurred around 7:15 PM, the Novato Police Department urges that any information or footage pertaining to the suspect's identity or whereabouts be reported immediately through the Novato Police Dispatch at 415-897-1122, referencing police case NP23-3267.
