During Labor Day weekend, the Milpitas Police Department found themselves dealing with a surge in criminal activities, tending to cases varying from drug possession to DUI's to weapons violations.

On Friday, an officer was patrolling the commercial area near the 550-Block of Sycamore Dr. at approximately 5:13 A.M when they encountered two individuals from Santa Clara: a 30-year-old male and a 67-year-old female. According to the Milpitas Police Department, the female was in possession of drug paraphernalia, while the male not only possessed methamphetamine but also had an outstanding felony warrant for burglary. The woman was cited and released, and the man was booked into jail for possession of narcotics and the outstanding warrant.

Later that same day around 10:44 P.M., an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered that the 25-year-old driver from San Jose was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and booked into jail for DUI.

On Monday, September 4th, the police had to intervene in two separate cases. At around 4:55 P.M., officers responded to a theft report from a vehicle near S. Main St. and Sinnott Ln. With the suspect fleeing the scene and the victim pursuing him, law enforcement apprehended the offender. The 48-year-old male suspect from San Jose, who was on parole, was ultimately booked into jail for making criminal threats, theft, and possession of a dirk or dagger.

Later that evening, around 10:42 P.M., another officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and, upon contact with the 25-year-old male driver from San Jose, observed a firearm partially concealed under his clothing. The driver was arrested and booked into jail for multiple weapons violations.
