
On Saturday, September 23, Trevor Baylef, a 34-year-old man from Scituate, Massachusetts, was arrested by State Police due to his involvement in an armed carjacking incident. After leading the police on a high-speed chase through several towns, Baylef crashed his vehicle and was consequently taken into custody.
Boston Police Department issued a Be On the LookOut (BOLO) alert for an armed carjacking suspect driving a black BMW X5 SUV, last seen at Route 93 and Route 3, according Massachusetts State Police. Concurrently, a vehicle fitting the SUV's description was reported to the State Police-Norwell Barracks for erratic driving on Route 3 southbound.
Around 8:28 AM, State Police patrols consisting of K9 Unit cruisers and an MSP patrol spotted the suspect's vehicle on Route 3 south in Duxbury quickly to, near the North Street Overpass. The suspect, refusing to stop his vehicle, instead drove at an alarmingly high speed. A field training officer, accompanied by a newly graduated trooper, initiated the pursuit with Troop D Headquarters taking command of the situation.
The police pursuit ended when Baylef crashed his vehicle into a stone wall at the intersection of Main Street and Landing Road in Kingston. As reported by Massachusetts State Police News, Baylef was then taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth for examination of potential injuries due to the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, thankfully. The troopers found a knife in the suspect's vehicle, in open view. The Boston Police Department was informed of the suspect's capture and consequently, investigators arrived in Kingston to investigate the suspect vehicle and collect evidence on the scene.
