Yesterday, a Dominican man residing in Boston, Manuel Armando Peguero German, also known as Joshua Sanchez, received a sentence of 15 months in prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. U.S. District Judge Angel Kelley presided over the case.
Peguero German, 32, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien on June 12, 2023. Before his sentencing, he had served a 34-month federal sentence for conspiring to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. After completing his sentence, Peguero German was deported from the United States to the Dominican Republic in August 2020.
However, sometime after his removal, Peguero German returned to the United States without any authorization. In September 2022, he was arrested in Boston on state drug charges that were later dismissed.
Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations, made the announcement of the sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney David G. Tobin of the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
