Yesterday morning, the Lake County, Illinois community of Lake Forest experienced a wave of burglaries. A suspect sought to evade capture by the authorities, sparking a tense police pursuit. As morning broke, the chase culminated in the suspect's arrest, successfully bringing an end to the series of break-ins.
The incidents began when officers responded to a burglar alarm at a house in the 700 block of Green Bay Road at approximately 5:58 a.m., according to a Fox 32 Chicago report. As they conducted their search, they discovered multiple other burglaries in the area and secured footage of the suspect from nearby residents. Eventually, at around 8:00 a.m., the culprit was located in the 80 block of Sunset Drive, recalls a Lake and McHenry County Scanner article.
In an attempt to evade arrest, he fled on foot and engaged the police officers in a brief foot chase before ultimately being taken into custody. Identified as 28-year-old Adam C. Pena of Wadsworth, the suspect now faces four felony charges and three misdemeanors, which include residential burglary, attempted residential burglary, and burglary to a vehicle, as reported by Fox 32 Chicago.
Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Michael Lange reassured residents that "there is no safety concern for the community at this time," according to the Lake and McHenry County Scanner news report.
Pena is currently being held at the Lake Forest Police Department and awaits his first court appearance, scheduled for the following day, September 20th.
