Beginning on September 8 and running through September 10, the 98th Annual Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival takes center stage in East Cambridge. This event, focused primarily on Warren Street, Macarelli Way, and Porter Street, will necessitate road closures commencing on Thursday evening, September 7 according to Cambridge Department of Traffic, Parking, and Transportation. To add to the festive spirit, several processionals will traverse through East Cambridge and Somerville over the weekend. Consequently, traffic impacts around East Cambridge are foreseeable.

In another display of community pride, the 19th Annual Port Pride Day is set to take place on Saturday, September 9, in the Port. Sponsored by the esteemed Margaret Fuller House, the event will span across Clement Morgan Park and the Margaret Fuller House, resulting in closures of Columbia Street, Pine Street, and Easton Street at specific intervals. With a rain date scheduled for September 16, the event adds a layer of complexity to the already busy weekend.

On Sunday, September 10, the 29th Cambridge Carnival International parade and festival will kick off at 11 a.m., lasting until 5 p.m. The parade, which starts at Blackstone Street at 12:30 p.m., will proceed down River Street to Central Square, meander right on Massachusetts Avenue, and continue to Sidney Street. The festival is slated to occur on Sidney Street between Massachusetts Avenue and Pacific Street.

While the parade route will only be closed between noon and 3 p.m., Sidney Street and adjacent blocks of Green Street, Franklin Street, and Pilgrim Street will remain closed from Sunday morning through Sunday evening. This extended closure will likely impact traffic in the neighborhoods of Riverside, Cambridgeport, and Central Square.
