Earlier today, a man fell overboard from the MTM Dublin, a chemical tanker. He was rushed to the hospital due to his serious condition, according to the Boston 25 News.
The fishing vessel America's crew told NBC10 Boston that they were returning to port due to the rough conditions the tanker was experiencing. Amid the darkness, they were closest to the MTM Dublin when the mayday call was relayed. Chance led them to the man as their flashlights illuminated the red-orange life vest he wore, about a mile from where the tanker was anchored.
With the stricken man aboard, the America's crew immediately performed CPR, hurtling back to shore as swiftly as they could. According to NECN, Boston Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard boats followed them as they docked at Fish Pier, where Boston EMS paramedics continued CPR while rushing the unresponsive individual to a local hospital.
After the incident, the MTM Dublin remained off the coast of Boston today, as per publicly available tracking information. The cause of the man's fall is unknown, and further investigation is yet to unfold
